Test Prep Tutoring

Helping you ace those college & career admission exams

Hey there! I’m Lauren, aka Sharpened Way and your go-to test prep tutor. As an educator of over a decade, I’ve found joy in helping others learn to master skills they never thought they could. With a B.S. in Biology and a M.Ed +30 in Special Education, I’ve been able to focus on gaining extra expertise in teaching reading, writing, math, science, and executive functioning (organization/planning). If you have a big entrance exam for college or a career, and are feeling overwhelmed, I’ve got you! The practice tests on this site focus on the reading, writing/grammar, and math areas that are most commonly seen on entrance or admissions exams.

Make it

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to be the first in your family to go to college. Maybe you want to get to the next level in your career. Or maybe you just want to prove to yourself that you can solve complex math problems. Explore Sharpened Way’s practice tests and begin your journey to mastery over reading comprehension, math concepts, and essay writing.

  • My content focuses on reading, writing, and math areas that are commonly seen on entrance exams for a variety of tests- such as those for college admissions, graduate school, the military, high school equivalency, & teaching exams, to name a few. For legal reasons, I cannot provide tutoring for a specific test, as different companies hold those licenses. However, the content I cover is common across all reading, writing, and math sections of these tests. Use my resources along with the specific study resources for the exact test you are taking for the most comprehensive studying. Feel free to email me at Lauren@Sharpenedway.com or DM me on social media @sharpenedway to ask if the specific test you are taking can relate to the questions on my practice tests!

  • Sharpened Way’s tutoring is self-paced. This means you get practice tests along with detailed how-to videos to help you solve each question type included in the tests. You also get advanced notice of live sessions where we review commonly asked questions and how to solve them.

  • Unfortunately, no. Little in life is guaranteed :(. However, some research shows that tutoring can help boost scores 10-30% vs. studying alone. For one example, if your test is out of 100 points and you score a 60/100 without tutoring, tutoring could boost your next score to a 70-90/100. Of course, the student’s effort in tutoring comes into play here as well. That said, if you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Lauren@Sharpenedway.com. I’m always happy to help.
